Hello! This list represents key servant volunteer positions that support our ministries to share Christ’s mission of grace. How can you help serve God within your PMLC community? Take some time to fill out the ways that interest you. Please note areas where you are CURRENTLY serving so we can get an accurate picture of all the ways our members have moved from GUEST to HOST. Check all the boxes where you feel you can best SERVE within PMLC.
ALTAR CARE -
Weekly set up of the Communion trays (bread and wine) and assist in worship by handing servers the trays and making sure trays are full. Clean up after worship. Serve in rotation with others.
One month commitment. You greet people as they enter the Sanctuary, usher them to seats, hand out bulletins, assist with Offering, and clean up after worship. Children may participate with adult supervision.
ASSISTING MINISTER -
One Sunday per month. Assist during worship; read the Holy Gospel and prayers, and serve Communion.
One Sunday per month. You will assist during worship; read the Scripture lesson, and serve Communion.
SANCTUARY CHOIR -
Sing in the Sanctuary Choir at 8:30 & 11:00 am or as needed. Rehearsals on Wednesday from 7 - 8:30 pm.
SHALOM CHOIR -
Youth ages 6th-12th grade are invited to come sing with the Shalom Choir under the direction of Lora Bowers. Rehearsal is from 5-6pm every Sunday. They sing once a month during worship.
COMMUNION BREAD BAKER -
One or two Sundays per month you bake the bread (follow a recipe) in your home for our Sunday morning communion.
Both 8:30am and 11:00am Services
COMMUNION AT THE LODGE
Help distribute communion elements to a local assisted living center.
One Sunday per Month
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORSHIP -
Help lead and prepare the 6th grade class for the Children’s Christmas Worship.
November & December Rehearsals
ATRIUM GREETER --
Welcome those who enter our doors for worship, especially our guests, before and after worship in the church atrium. You choose to serve one or more Sundays in a month.
OFFICE ANGELS -
Volunteer for shifts throughout the work week to provide a welcoming atmosphere to guests who enter our doors. Help answer phones, direct people to offices, and assist with light clerical work.
During Church Office Hours
EASTER CELEBRATION -
Assist at this outreach event for children 2 yrs.-Grade 2. Duties vary (eg. set up, craft help, registration, Egg hunt, etc.)
Saturday before Easter
RETREAT/MISSION TRIP GUIDES -
Build relationships with youth, pray with them, and fully participate in all aspects of the retreat/mission trip experience. Events may include a weekend trip to Pine Cove, an overnight lock-in, or any number of spiritual getaways. Mission trips are approximately 5-9 days long.
Provide rides to/from church to other PMLC partners as needed.
GROW GROUP FACILITATOR
Join a team of adultCONNECT facilitators. Great facilitators are authentic, encouraging, good listeners, and have a love for others. Discussion materials are provided.
Grow Groups nurture faith and grow authentic relationships in a small group setting. Groups meet regularly (weekly to monthly) and decide the time, place & topics that works for the group.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM
Help Pastor Kate prep and lead VBS. There will be some pre-work in the months before.
June 11-15 2018
KIDSCONNECT TEACHERS (3 year-olds through 6th grade) -
Nurture the faith of PMLC’s children and youth. Engage in a teaching ministry team that emphasizes fun, religious identity, community, and learning. Sunday Mornings 9:45—10:45am. Curriculum provided.
Sundays from 9:45am-10:45am
KIDS CONNECT MUSIC (3 year-olds through 6th Grade) -
Lead, teach and assist children with music at the beginning of the KidsCONNECT hour.
Sundays Beginning at 9:45am
YOUTHCONNECT LEADERS -
Lead a small group of middle school or high school youth. Curriculum provided.
Sundays from 9:45am-10:45am
CONFIRMATION GUIDES (7th and 8th Graders) -
Confirmation Guides are instrumental in developing the foundation of Lutheran beliefs in our 7th and 8th grade youth.
Wednesdays from 7:00pm-8:30pm
COFFEE HOSPITALITY -
You make the coffee (directions provided) before the 8:30 worship and before the 9:45am Connect hour.
COFFEE CLEAN-UP -
Following the late service fellowship time, you clean up the coffee station, and make sure all the supplies are filled for the next week.
GREEN TEAM PARTNER -
Maintain exterior grounds. 8-10 teams of 8-9 partners and a team leader rotate weekly. 8am start time with shifts lasting approximately 2hrs depending on team size/partner availability.
Alt. Saturdays Spring/Summer
GOD'S GARDENERS -
Aid with planting, pruning, and maintaining landscape beds around the church facility. Hours are open to volunteer availability.
MEALS MINISTRY -
When needed, prepare an entrée and bring to the church for delivery to members recovering from surgery or illness.
KITCHEN TEAM MEMBER -
During special events, perform a variety of duties in the kitchen (eg. food prep, service, clean up, etc.).
CHRISTMAS DECORATION TEAM -
Are you creative with a passion for decorating? Help transform our facility into a Christmas wonderland before Advent.
DECORATION SPECIALISTS FOR YOUTH EVENTS -
Help transform our facilities into welcoming places during special occasions, i.e. breakfasts, brunches, lunches and banquets for PMLC youth and families.
